ZEPPELIN - Lot 252
ZEPPELIN Over Paris… 1929/30. 2 photographs, vintage silver gelatin prints, annotated on one image, captioned on the back of one, and stamped on the other. 12.7 x 17.8 cm each. Note: This set of two photographs taken between 1929 and 1930 depicts a Zeppelin airship flying over Paris, at a time when these giants of the skies embodied the pinnacle of aeronautical progress. True symbols of modernity during the interwar period, Zeppelins provided spectacular connections between Europe, America, and South America, inspiring fascination and admiration among the public. Their passage over the French capital was a widely reported event in the press and drew large crowds of onlookers. These images thus bear witness to the golden age of German rigid airships, a few years before the airplane definitively established itself as the primary means of long-distance air travel. As vintage prints, they are valuable historical records of aviation history and of the exceptional presence of these iconic aircraft in the Parisian sky.
