Note: Set of three photographs dedicated to Destination Moon, a science-fiction film directed by Irving Pichel and released in 1950. Considered one of the founding films of modern American science fiction, this feature film produced by George Pal marks a milestone in the realistic representation of space travel in cinema. Inspired by the work of scientists and writers specialized in astronautics, the film anticipates the conquest of space with technical seriousness, well before the Apollo missions. Winner of the Oscar for Best Special Effects, Destination Moon had a major influence on the science-fiction cinema of the following decades.
