Note: A set of six photographs documenting Meryl Streep’s 1982–1983, a period marked by the international success of *Sophie’s Choice*, for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress in 1983. The prints document the filming of the movie, its promotion in Paris during the French premiere, and the actress’s return to Vassar College, her alma mater, where she was invited to deliver the commencement address. Preserved with their original captions and stamps, these prints illustrate one of the most significant periods of the actress’s career.
