Note: This photograph, taken in the 1960s, shows printer Peter Bramsen and painter Soerensen at work in the Clot Studio in Paris, one of the leading centers of artistic lithography in the 20th century. As the successor to the printing house founded in the 19th century by Auguste Clot, this studio collaborated with numerous modern and contemporary artists, playing an essential role in the development and dissemination of original prints. Peter Bramsen, a Danish printer based in Paris, was himself a leading figure in the world of printmaking and lithography, working with numerous international artists. This image illustrates the various stages of lithography printing and bears witness to the close collaboration between artists and artisans in Parisian studios. As a period print, it serves as a valuable document on printmaking techniques and the activities of the major postwar graphic design studios.
