Robbery on the set of The Crown
In the early morning hours of February 16, members of The Crown crew reported a theft to police in Doncaster, Yorkshire, where the final filming of season five was taking place. Three vehicles containing props were broken into and looted.
Numerous antiques worth a total of £150,000 (about €178,000) were stolen, including silver candelabras and a hairdressing set, Russian icons, crystal decanters, the face of a William IV clock and a replica of the Fabergé coronation egg, which the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas II, gave to his wife Alexandra for Easter in 1897.
No leads were found to be valid, so South Yorkshire Police had to put the investigation on hold for the time being. Netflix has announced that the stolen parts will be replaced as soon as possible so as not to jeopardize the release date scheduled for late 2022.
