Note: Pol Bury is an eminent painter, sculptor and jewelry designer. Close to the Surrealist movement, he frequented René Magritte and the Cobra group. In 1950, Bury was strongly influenced by the exhibition of the sculptor and painter Calder, which prompted him to incorporate the movement into his work and turn to sculpture.
In 1955, he exhibited his "mobile plans" for the first time at Galerie Denise René, in the exhibition "Le Mouvement", alongside artists such as Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp and Victor Vasarely. Considered today as one of the fathers of kinetic art, he creates moving works using materials such as steel and wood, and geometric shapes such as spheres, cylinders, disks and pans, skilfully assembled. His works are characterized by slow, magnetic movement, accentuated by the play of light.
From 1968 onwards, Bury began creating jewelry, designing ingenious pieces in motion. Alexandra Hauquier, in her book Pol Bury, créateur de bijoux, writes: "Rings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets move, are in constant motion. It's more than a piece of jewelry, it's a work of art that you wear.
