Berthe SOURDILLON (1895-1976) - Nudes in a landscape Oil on isorel Signed lower right 36.5 x 27 cm. Note: Berthe Sourdillon, having traveled extensively in her youth, settled in France and made friends with painters such as Michel Kikoine, Pinchus Kremegne and Chaïm Soutine. In 1926, she signed a contract with the famous art dealer Léopold Zborowski. She continued to travel to paint on location. From 1948 onwards, her style became more personal, particularly in her landscapes, which she often painted at dawn or dusk. Her work combines optimistic expressionism and happy post-impressionism, reminiscent of Bonnard, as noted in the Bénézit dictionary.
