Alexander Calder
Calder will rub shoulders with the Parisian avant-gardes such as Jean Cocteau, Man Ray, Fernand Léger, Le Corbusier, Theo Van Doesburg, but he will especially be influenced by Piet Mondrian.
In the 1930s, the first Mobiles, forms of abstract sculpture named by Marcel Duchamp. The expression Stabile was found by Jean Arp. In 1938, Calder will present his creations for fifteen minutes. Calder will be inspired by his mobiles to make many gouaches, the movement remains at the heart of each of his works.
