La Joconde keeps her secrets

In 1939, Jacques Jaujard, director of the National Museums, directed the evacuation of works from major Parisian museums to seventy-two selected secure repositories in the provinces.
The Mona Lisa leaves for Chambord and then, very quickly, for the castle of Louvigny. The most famous painting in the Louvre then continues its trip to the abbey of Loc-Dieu, before joining the Ingres museum in Montauban.
The work ends his journey at the castle of Montal, near Saint-Ceré, in the Lot department, where the beautiful Florentine will remain until the end of the war, preserved, it is said, under the bed of the curator in charge!
