How to Bid with Expertisez Enchères

You can take part in our auctions in the saleroom, online, by leaving an absentee bid or, where this service is available, by telephone.

Encherissez.com allows you to consult the calendar and catalogues of auctions organised by Expertisez Enchères. Where an auction is broadcast through a Partner Platform, a link allows you to access its registration page and bidding interface.

Take Part in Three Steps

Select an Auction

Consult the calendar, open the catalogue and identify the lots that interest you.

Register for the Auction

Create or complete your account on the platform indicated and request registration sufficiently early.

Place Your Bids

Once your registration has been accepted, choose an available bidding method and remain within the maximum amount you have decided to spend.

What Is the Difference Between a Live and an Online Auction?

Live Auctions

A Live Auction is conducted in real time by an auctioneer, either in a saleroom or at another announced location. It may be broadcast by video through a platform allowing remote bidding.

  • The auction follows the pace of the saleroom and auctioneer.
  • Bidding increments are determined during the auction.
  • Online bidders must follow the lot in real time.
  • A submitted bid constitutes a commitment to purchase.

Online-Only Auctions

An Online-Only Auction takes place entirely online over an announced period. Bidders may place bids until each lot closes.

  • The next available bid is displayed by the platform.
  • A maximum automatic bid may be available.
  • The closing rules appear on the auction page.
  • A late bid may extend the lot where the platform uses an extension mechanism.

Available Bidding Methods

Bidding in the Saleroom You attend the auction and signal your bids directly to the auctioneer.
Live Online Bidding You follow the auction in real time and use the platform’s bidding button once your registration has been approved.
Absentee Bid You state the maximum amount up to which the auction house may bid on your behalf.
Automatic Bid You enter a confidential maximum and the platform bids progressively on your behalf, up to your stated limit.
Telephone Bid Where this service is available and your request is accepted, our team calls you when the lot is offered and relays your bids.
Online-Only Bid You bid during the announced opening period until the relevant lot closes.

Before You Bid

Read the lot description, examine the photographs, note the estimate and consult the Conditions of Sale. Before placing a bid, check:

  • the buyer’s premium added to the hammer price;
  • any taxes or additional charges identified for the lot;
  • the accepted payment methods;
  • the collection location and deadline;
  • any storage, packing or transport costs;
  • the available information about the condition of the property.

You may request additional photographs or a condition report before the auction. A bid should only be placed once you have considered the available information.

Approval of Your Registration

Creating an account does not automatically guarantee admission to an auction. The auction house may request identification, proof of address, a card authorisation, a deposit or another financial guarantee.

What Happens if You Win a Lot?

Confirmation of the Result The platform or auction house informs you of the result. The official auction record remains the authoritative reference.
Invoice and Payment You receive an invoice showing the hammer price, buyer’s premium and any applicable taxes or charges.
Collection or Delivery Once payment has been received in full, the lot may be collected in accordance with the announced arrangements or entrusted to a carrier selected by the buyer.
