JOSEPHA (1950) Saut à la corde, 2005 - Bronze sculpture sign - Lot 38
JOSEPHA (1950) Saut à la corde, 2005 - Bronze sculpture signed and numbered 17/30 Barthelemy cast iron - 40 x 20 x 8 cm - Certificate of authenticity _ Josepha was born in 1950 in the South West of France. From her mother's Italian origin, she inherited her first name and probably her creativity. She was first a fashion designer and her collections of leather and hats earned her an international success that many others would have been satisfied with. But Josepha is burning with the desire to confront herself with other materials. Her encounter with the man who now shares her life, a sculptor himself and a professor of plastic arts, will be decisive. In 1992, she decided to devote herself body and soul to sculpture. Her lively and poetic style immediately asserts itself through clay, stone and bronze. Then with polyester, it takes on a dreamlike dimension, characterized by feminine forms reduced to the essential, enhanced by a luxuriance of coloured effects. Josepha currently lives in the Drôme countryside and her works are exhibited in many galleries around the world.
