Note: Lenordez specialized in depicting winning horses in major races. He designed the horse for the equestrian statue of Joan of Arc commissioned by his nephew, Albert Le Nordez, for his native Montebourg. His knowledge of horses prompted him to write a work on hippology, "Le Cheval, sa conformation et son élevage", published in 1886. Back in Normandy, Pierre Le Nordez taught sculpture for ten years at Caen's municipal school of fine arts, training numerous students, the most famous of whom, Arthur Le Duc, went on to become a great equestrian sculptor in his own right.
