Charles-Henri CONTENCIN (1898-1955) - Le lac Lérié et la Miege - Oil on canvas signed lower left - 60 x 81 cm - Soiling Note: Charles -Henri Contencin grew up in the Bernese Oberland and was a lifelong mountain enthusiast. He joined the SPM (Société des Peintres de Montagne) in 1929. His fame is due above all to his painting of mountain landscapes. He exhibited regularly at the Indépendants from 1926 to 1939, at the Artistes Français from 1932 to 1949, at the Salon d'Hiver and in numerous galleries. Charles-Henri Contencin loved to paint sunset or sunrise effects on snow or glaciers.
