André Vincent BECQUEREL (1893-1981) - Panthère à l'affut - Bronze sculpture signed on the back on the terrace - Cachet "Susse Editeur Frères" on the back on the terrace - Cachet cire perdue on the front (under the rock).
Note: André Vincent Becquerel, French animal sculptor, established himself as a key figure in the decorative arts of the first half of the 20th century. Trained at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he specialized in the representation of animals, capturing their postures, expressions and movements with finesse and realism. Collaborating with the great foundrymen of his time, notably Susse Frères, his works are sought after for their elegance and quality of execution. His sculptures can be found in private and public collections, including the Musée d'Orsay and various decorative art museums. This piece testifies to Becquerel's mastery of the art of translating animal power and grace.
