Claude VENARD (1913-1999) Les pédaleurs du Ciel, 1965 Oil on canvas 130 x 162 cm Note: Les pédaleurs du Ciel is a masterly oil on canvas painted by Claude Venard in 1965. In this monumental work, Venard presents us with a dynamic, poetic scene, where human forms and abstraction meet to create a lively, energetic composition. The work's title, Les pédaleurs du Ciel, suggests a sense of freedom and elevation, with figures seemingly reaching for the heavens, perhaps in reference to ascension or celestial movement, all conveyed by the vibrant colors and geometric shapes characteristic of the artist's post-Cubism. The large format of this canvas allows Venard to display the full power of his style, with bold brushstrokes and masterful use of light and shadow.
