*ETIENNE-MARTIN (1913-1995) Le Grand poisson-coeur, 1969 Bronze sculpture with dark brown patina Signed and justified 3/9 67 x 88 x 48 cm Bibliography: Herald Szeemann: "Etienne-Martin" bronze and wood reproduced on page 188 Etienne Martin, Musée Rodin, 1972. Photo N°77 (similar model) Etienne Martin, Artcurial exhibition 1984. Wood reproduced. Michel Ragon: "Etienne-Martin" catalog no. 129, similar model reproduced. Note: In this bronze sculpture with a dark-brown patina, Etienne-Martin combines organic imagination and symbolism. Playing with monumentality and fragmented forms, he creates a work that is both mystical and introspective, where fish and heart come together in a poetic evocation of the living. Through his work with volume and material, the artist gives birth to a sculpture inhabited by an inner energy, inscribing this piece in his exploration of the link between body, memory and space. Sold on re-bidding following the failure of the previous bidder.
