Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) (after) - Lot 309

Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) (after) The Poets, 1958 Color lithograph Signed, titled and dated in the plate Soiling 51.2 x 30.5 cm Note: This color lithograph after Jean Cocteau combines several elements emblematic of his artistic language: sinuous line, stylized figures and mythological imagery. Les Poètes (1958) illustrates the artist's lyrical, dramatic vision, in which the figures seem carried away in an upward movement, guided by a winged creature. The work retains all the chromatic vivacity and graphic poetry characteristic of Cocteau's creations. Although signed, titled and dated in the plate - in accordance with the "éditions d'après" - it remains a fine tribute to the poet-artist's symbolic and theatrical universe.
