Pablo PICASSO (1881-1973) (after) - Lot 318
Pablo PICASSO (1881-1973) (after) Maternity, 1963 Color lithograph Signed and dated 29.4.63 in the plate 64 x 46 cm Note: This lithograph after Pablo Picasso recaptures the refined, sensitive aesthetic characteristic of the artist's late-period works. Picasso's universal theme of maternity is treated here with great gentleness: a continuous line of controlled simplicity defines the essential shapes, while a few touches of color enliven the composition. The date and signature printed on the plate refer to the original 1963 drawing, whose poetry and tenderness this print conveys. An emblematic image in Picasso's humanist vein, often revisited in posthumous editions.
