John Harrison LEVEE (1924-2017) - Lot 12
John Harrison LEVEE (1924-2017) Idea XII- 1987 Acrylic and collage on cardboard Signed lower left and dated (19)87 Countersigned and titled on back 45 x 45 cm Note: This composition of acrylic and collage perfectly illustrates John Harrison Levee's late geometric period, in which the artist explored the relationship between architectural forms and colored spaces. The superimposition of planes, combined with the subtle use of textures, lends the whole a rhythmic depth characteristic of his work of the 1980s. The work testifies to an accomplished plastic research, where structural rigor and pictorial sensibility are harmoniously combined.
