ANTIQUE MANDOLIN - E. DE CRISTOFARO Italy / France, late XIXᵉ - early XXᵉ century Condition: accidents, cracks, wear - in original case Neapolitan mandolin with lute-shaped case, bearing inside a printed label: "Fabbricazione Artistica di Mandolini & Mandole Napoletani - Invenzione E. De Cristofaro - Parigi, 12 boulevard Saint-Martin - Fabbrica Napoli, Via Vecchia Capodimonte - N° 1294". Spruce top, decorated with a tortoiseshell (or imitation tortoiseshell) pickguard underlined by mother-of-pearl inlays. Ornamented rosette. Carved headstock with antique pegs. Fingerboard inlaid with mother-of-pearl markers. Antique strings. Significant crack in the soundboard, deformations, missing parts, soiling, oxidation, chips, play in the neck; unplayed / untested instrument. Presented in its period case, worn velvet interior, damaged fastenings. Dimensions length approx. 60-65 cm
