Suzanne Ramié (1907-1974) - Lot 50
Suzanne Ramié (1907-1974) Atelier Madoura, Vallauris Large baluster vase with slender neck Glazed ceramic with a bluish-gray glaze and metallic highlights, featuring subtle variations in tone and a slightly granulated texture. Base stamped MADOURA - VALLAURIS. Height: 74 cm Period: circa 1950-1960 Condition: Very good overall condition. Minor restorations to the base. Note : A major figure in French ceramics of the XXᵉ century, Suzanne Ramié developed at Madoura, from the 1950s onwards, a production of refined large-format shapes, favoring research into covers and materials. This vase, with its slender form and nuanced glaze, is fully in keeping with the modernist aesthetic of the studio and is one of Madoura's large-format productions, which are sought-after today. Comparative bibliography P. Staudenmeyer, Madoura, céramiques, Éditions du Chêne, 1992. V. Giroud, Vallauris, la céramique française 1945-1960, Éditions Norma, 2001. Musée Magnelli - Musée de la Céramique, Vallauris (comparable works). (No strictly identical models have been found in the published bibliography; however, comparable shapes and coverings have been documented).
