Steve McQueen in his Jaguar XK55, circa 1962 - Lot 45

Steve McQueen in his Jaguar XK55, circa 1962 Black and white digital print Dimensions: 20 x 30.2 cm Note: Iconic image of Steve McQueen at the wheel of his Jaguar XKSS, embodying the archetypal actor-driver and the virile aesthetic of the early 1960s. The overhead framing and spontaneity of the shot reinforce the impression of a snapshot, capturing McQueen in a posture that is both concentrated and instinctive, true to the image he has built up both on screen and in life: that of a free man with a passion for speed and mechanics. Black and white accentuates the graphic dimension of the composition and places this photograph in the line of mythical images that have helped forge the legend of Steve McQueen, a major figure in American cinema and a timeless icon of car culture and masculine style in the XXᵉ century.
