RENÉ-JACQUES (known as René Giton) (1908-2003) - Lot 222
RENÉ-JACQUES (known as René Giton) (1908-2003)
Invalides, Paris, 1955
Posterior silver print
On the back, stamped by the author and titled
Size including margins: 30 x 22 cm
Upper left corner slightly corroded
Note: In this 1955 view of the Invalides, René-Jacques takes a graphic and poetic look at Parisian architecture. The daring framing, playing on low-angle shots and sculptural cut-outs, transforms the monument into an almost theatrical scene, where the light sculpts the volumes and creates a tension between light and shadow. True to his sensitive, humanist approach, the photographer creates a dialogue between monumentality and intimacy, offering a timeless vision of Paris. This later silver print, stamped and titled on the back, testifies to the formal elegance and modernity of his work.
