José NICOLAS (1956) - Lot 258
José NICOLAS (1956) Paras of the 8 RPIMa, Afghanistan, 2008 Digital print Signed, titled and located on back 23.5 x 33 cm Note: In this photograph taken in Afghanistan in 2008, José Nicolas captures a moment of respite among the paratroopers of the 8ᵉ RPIMa. The subdued light, suspended dust and relaxed attitudes contrast with the tension of the operational environment, revealing the humanity and vulnerability behind the uniform. True to his reporter's eye, Nicolas documents here the reality on the ground with great proximity and discreet sensitivity.
