Maurice DUFRENE (1876-1955) Art Deco vase decorated with a frieze of stylized foliage in enamel Signed on the base Height: 28.5 cm Note: Art deco vase by Maurice Dufrêne, a major figure in the French decorative arts of the first XXᵉ century, artistic director of Galeries Lafayette (La Maîtrise) and advocate of excellent craftsmanship. The stylized foliage frieze decoration, treated in colored enamels, perfectly illustrates his aesthetic language: geometric motifs, elegant lines and mastery of volumes. The signature on the base confirms attribution to this important Art Deco decorator.
