Jean-Pierre PINCEMIN (1944-2005) - Lot 13
Jean-Pierre PINCEMIN (1944-2005) Naked, 2002 Silkscreen enhanced with stencil, numbered and signed. Paper : Velin d'Arches 250 g Format : 270 x 380 mm Justified 31/120 Note: A singular figure on the post-war French art scene, Jean-Pierre Pincemin's work straddles the border between abstraction and figuration, marked by constant reflection on paint, material and gesture. A former member of the Supports/Surfaces group, he soon distanced himself from it to return to a free figuration, nourished by art history and an experimental practice of the medium. With Naked (2002), Pincemin proposes a stripped-down, almost archaic vision of the nude. The figure, reduced to a schematic silhouette, stands out in a space structured by flat areas of color and deliberately rough black lines. The body is not described but suggested, inscribed in a composition in which the materiality of the support and the stencil play a central role. The silkscreen, enhanced with stencils, highlights the dialogue between reproduction and manual gesture, characteristic of the artist's late graphic work. The muted colors - ochre, blue and yellow with a patina - give the work an almost primitive dimension, reinforcing the sense of timelessness and distance from the academic nude.
