Note: Since the early 1980s, Claude Lévêque (b. 1953, Nevers, France; lives and works in Montreuil, France) has been producing emotionally powerful site-specific installations, immersing visitors in charged atmospheres and offering total sensory experiences. Claude Lévêque's writing is equally dazzling: parler à un mouton strikes a delicate balance between humor, gravity and nostalgia. The writing is poetic, sometimes crude, unctuous and fluttering. The pages follow one another in a supposedly childlike universe, where drawings and words mingle. The "useless but burlesque" text is infinitely rich, with its multiple levels of reading and popular references. Claude Lévêque takes us everywhere: from provincial restaurants to Nevers, from desert highways to Vichy. But above all, he admires David Bowie. Only the most enlightened readers, immersed in his memories and fantasies, will be able to disentangle the true from the false. No matter. The aim is not to deconstruct the text to extract the truth, but to share these unexpected fables. The first edition is accompanied by a unique original work by the artist, a silkscreen enhanced with felt-tip pen on paper.
