Barthélémy Toguo - Lot 88
Barthélémy Toguo L'appel de Dakar 48 pages, paperback, dust jacket Numbered 182 from an edition of 280 + current edition "L'art en écrit", 2016. Editions Janninck Format: 125 x 210 mm Enclosed is an original and unique work by the artist in watercolor, stamps, fabric and fingerprint on paper. Note: The work of Barthélémy Toguo (born 1967 in Cameroon, lives and works between Paris and Bandjoun) is protean, colorful, multicultural and committed, based on a reflection on human destiny, displacement and the march of the world. In L'Appel de Dakar, Barthélémy Toguo harangues the Ministers of Culture of African countries. Sounding the alarm, he alerts them to "the absolute necessity of ardently supporting contemporary African art". Stressing the importance of culture and the arts in international outreach, he calls for financial and legal measures to be put in place, so that African artists can rise to world-class status. With this text, Barthélémy Toguo continues the work he has undertaken at the Bandjoun Station cultural center he created in Cameroon, to bring cultures and people closer together through art, combat deforestation and encourage local agriculture. The first edition is accompanied by an original and unique work by the artist in watercolor, stamps, fabric and fingerprint on paper.
