Rudy Ricciotti - Lot 90
Rudy Ricciotti In vain 48 pages, paperback, dust jacket Numbered 97 from an edition of 280 + current edition "L'art en écrit", 2015. Editions Janninck Format: 125 x 210 mm An original and unique signed work of art is included. Note: Architect and engineer, winner of the Grand Prix National de l'Architecture in 2006, Rudy Ricciotti (born 1952 in Kouba, Algeria, lives and works in Bandol, Var) is notably the architect of the MuCEM (Museum of Civilization in Marseille). While his world-renowned architectural creations have made Rudy Ricciotti a household name, his outspokenness is just as legendary. The book En vain is a case in point. In it, the architect spins out his sometimes biting, sometimes admiring, but always hard-hitting thoughts on fifty-nine personalities, from Andy Warhol and Ettore Sottsass to Pierre Soulages, Francis Bacon and Claude Viallat. Malevich, for example, is described as a "murderer", while Oscar Niemeyer finds himself "at the right hand of God" but "living in hell because of the cement mixer", while Beuys is reduced to a "poor pilot, coyote tamer and Wall Street Journal reporter". The first edition is accompanied by a unique original artwork.
