Dewasne - Lot 159
Dewasne Dress code 48 pages, paperback, dust jacket Numbered 74 from an edition of 288 copies "L'art en écrit", 1995. Editions Janninck Format: 125 x 210 mm A silkscreen print signed and numbered by the artist is included. Note: Abstract painter Jean Dewasne (1921-1999) left his mark on the plastic arts in the second half of the 20th century, not only with his mostly monumental work, but also with his revolutionary spirit, which is still evident today. In the 1950s, he challenged the established rules of painting, which had stood for centuries. His painting rejects classical perspective and moves shapes and colors forward on the same plane, linking them together in what he calls topology. Then comes the choice of colors and their luminosity, on which subject he writes: "for a painter, to establish the phenomena of light is to fathom the soul of his existence". The unpublished text is accompanied by a silkscreen print signed and numbered by the artist.
