Rezvani - Lot 161
Rezvani Process 48 pages, paperback, dust jacket Numbered 174 from an edition of 290 "L'art en écrit", 1994. Editions Janninck Format: 125 x 210 mm Enclosed: an original etching, numbered and signed by the artist. Note: Serge Rezvani (b. 1928, Teheran) is a writer, poet, playwright and singer-songwriter. He is the author of the famous song Le Tourbillon de la vie, sung by Jeanne Moreau in Truffaut's film Jules et Jim, as well as J'ai la mémoire qui flanche. He is also a painter. In 1947, Serge Rezvani, in collaboration with Paul Eluard, produced the engravings for a book with a print run of fifteen copies, Elle se fait élever un palais. During this period, he took part in the "Les Mains éblouies" group exhibitions at the Galerie Maeght. From the 1950s onwards, Serge Rezvani gained notoriety for his abstract paintings. He was exhibited by Galerie Berggruen and Lucien Durand, where he rubbed shoulders with painters of his generation, such as Pierre Dmitrienko and Arnal. Later, the Hannover Galerie in London exhibited his work. In the 1960s, he and his wife Lula left Paris for the South of France. His work was later shown at the ARC, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the Centre Georges Pompidou. In the 1990s, Serge Rezvani turned to figurative painting, which he presented at the 1999 Venice Biennale. Since then, he has never stopped painting, the act of painting being for him a "sensual engagement with the universe". Serge Rezvani now lives in seclusion in Corsica with actress Marie-Josée Nat. An unpublished text accompanied by an original etching, numbered and signed by the artist.
