Set of two books of French poetry and literature - Lot 294
Set of two books of French poetry and literature - Les grands maîtres du XVIIème siècle, Etudes littéraires et dramatiques, by Emile Faguet - Œuvres poétiques de Nicolas Boileau, annotated edition by G. Pellissier, Librairie Ch. Delagrave. Slight traces of damp. Discoloration and wear on covers. Note: The study by Émile Faguet, a leading critic of his time, offers an analytical and historical reading of the great classical authors, while the annotated edition of Boileau's Œuvres poétiques provides scholarly access to one of the essential theorists of classicism. This lot illustrates the scholastic and critical approach to French literature in the late XIXᵉ and early XXᵉ centuries.
