Alton Kelley (1940-2008) - Stanley Mouse (Born 1940) - Lot 12

Alton Kelley (1940-2008) - Stanley Mouse (Born 1940) 1601 West Evans, Denver, Co. - December 15 and 16, 1967 Concert poster with Saul Survivors, Box Tops and Jiimmerfield Legend (FDD-15) 36 x 51 cm Note: Poster produced for concerts at 1601 West Evans, Denver, as part of the Family Dog Denver (FDD) series, an extension of the famous California productions to Colorado in late 1967. The tandem of Kelley & Mouse, major figures in American psychedelic graphic design (notably famous for their visuals linked to the Grateful Dead), developed here a dense iconography, with fluid lines and saturated chromaticism, characteristic of the underground aesthetic of the late 1960s. The FDD series, more confidential than the FD series from San Francisco, is today particularly sought-after due to its often smaller print runs.
