Rick Griffin (1944-1991) - Lot 15
Rick Griffin (1944-1991) Shrine Auditorium - July 11, 1968 Concert poster with Blue Cheer, the Grateful Dead ( MSC-SHA 1968.07.11) 51 x 35.5 cm Note: Poster produced for the concert at the Shrine Auditorium on July 11, 1968. Rick Griffin, a major figure in American psychedelic graphic design, develops here his emblematic vocabulary: fused organic lettering, dynamic compositions and iconography inspired by Californian counterculture. The joint presence of Blue Cheer and the Grateful Dead makes this poster particularly interesting, illustrating the Californian rock scene at its peak in the late 1960s.
