Franciszek STAROWIEYSKI (1930-2009) - Lot 44

Franciszek STAROWIEYSKI (1930-2009) Kłoty Kask - Golden Helmet Polish offset poster for Jean Becker's film, circa 1952, under printer's note 85 x 60 cm Note: Rare Polish poster by Franciszek Starowieyski, produced for the broadcast of Jacques Becker's film Casque d'or. This composition testifies to the singularity of the Polish poster school, which favors artistic interpretation over simple promotional reproduction. Against an intense red background, the stylized female figure stands out powerfully, while the expressive, decorative typography creates a powerful visual dialogue between text and image. Both graphic and poetic, the overall effect moves away from realism to offer a free, modern reading of the cinematographic work. Representative of the post-war poster revival in Eastern Europe, this piece embodies the inventiveness and formal freedom of a movement now much sought-after by collectors of graphic art and cinema.
