Xavier de MAISTRE, "Voyage autour de ma chambre suivi de l'Expédition nocturne", 1877 Preface by Jules Claretie Illustrated with etchings after Hédouin Librairie des bibliophiles, Paris Bookplate M. Henri Delor, civil court judge Limited edition of 210 copies 182 pages Leather spine Good condition, some foxing, some handwriting, soiling 17.7 x 11.3 cm Note : A charming work by Xavier de Maistre, Voyage autour de ma chambre offers a singular literary experience: that of an immobile journey, where the imagination transforms intimate space into a territory of exploration. With wit and lightness, the author hijacks the codes of the travelogue to offer a poetic and humorous reflection on freedom, time and the human condition. This 1877 edition, published by Librairie des bibliophiles, is distinguished by its limited edition of 210 copies and its etchings after Hédouin, which finely accompany the text. The preface by Jules Claretie underlines the renewed interest in this work in the 19th century. A fine bibliophile copy, both elegant and literary, sought after for its originality and the quality of its illustrations.
