ROMY SCHNEIDER, apple cruncher, 1960. - Lot 14
ROMY SCHNEIDER, apple cruncher, 1960. Photo by M. Begoin, vintage silver print Stamped by the photographer and annotated on the back Dimensions: 25.7 x 23.7 cm Note: Romy Schneider (1938-1982), an Austro-German actress who became one of the great figures of European cinema, rose to fame at an early age with the Sissi trilogy of films (1955-1957). She went on to enjoy an international career, working with directors such as Luchino Visconti, Claude Sautet and Orson Welles, and established herself as one of the major actresses of the 1960s and 1970s. This 1960 photograph by M. Begoin shows the actress in a spontaneous scene, munching an apple, an image that contributed to the media iconography of the actress at the start of her international career. The shot is evidence of the distribution of portraits and scenes taken on the spot for the press and illustrated publications devoted to the great film stars of the time.
