ORSON WELLES, director of "Citizen Kane", poses in front of - Lot 26
ORSON WELLES, director of "Citizen Kane", poses in front of paintings by Georges Braque during the shooting of his documentary-drama about the forger Elmir de Hory, 1973 Photo, vintage silver print Annotated on back Dimensions: 25.2 x 20.5 cm Very slight folds Note: Orson Welles (1915-1985), American director, actor and screenwriter, remains one of the major figures of twentieth-century cinema. Revealed in 1941 with Citizen Kane, a film often considered one of the most influential in cinema history, he developed a body of work marked by great formal freedom and a taste for narrative experimentation. This photograph was taken in 1973 during the shooting of F for Fake (Truths and Lies), a documentary-drama about the famous forger Elmyr de Hory. Orson Welles appears posing in front of paintings by Georges Braque, in a context that questions the notion of authenticity and the boundary between artistic creation and mystification. The image reflects the atmosphere of the shoot, as well as Welles' reflections on the figure of the forger and illusion in art.
