ROMY SCHNEIDER, announcement of the actress's death (1982) i - Lot 31
ROMY SCHNEIDER, announcement of the actress's death (1982) illustrated by an image from A. Zulawski's 1974 film "L'important c'est d'aimer". Photo by J-P. Fizet, print on RC paper Captioned (with photographer's name) and annotated on the back Dimensions: 25.8 x 18 cm Note: Romy Schneider (1938-1982), an Austrian actress naturalized in France, was one of the great figures of European cinema in the second half of the XXᵉ century. Revealed in the 1950s by the Sissi trilogy, she went on to establish herself in a more dramatic register, notably under the direction of directors such as Claude Sautet, Luchino Visconti and Andrzej Żuławski. This photograph, released to mark the announcement of the actress's death in 1982, is illustrated by an image from Andrzej Żuławski's film L'Important c'est d'aimer (1974), the landmark work for which Romy Schneider received her first César for Best Actress in 1976. It bears witness to the strong imprint left by the actress on European cinema and the media memory of the time.
