ELVIS PRESLEY, a portrait and during his military service, 1950s 2 vintage silver prints, captioned (dated label) Stamps on both backs and annotated on one Dimensions: 13 x 18 cm & 18 x 24 cm Note: Elvis Presley (1935-1977), nicknamed the "King of Rock and Roll", is one of the most influential figures in the history of popular music in the XXᵉ century. Revealed in the mid-1950s with such now iconic titles as Heartbreak Hotel (1956) and Hound Dog (1956), he made a decisive contribution to the spread of rock'n'roll to an international audience. These photographs, dating from the 1950s, show the artist at two distinct moments: in a press portrait and during his military service, performed in the U.S. Army between 1958 and 1960, notably in Germany. This period, widely covered by the media, contributed to the construction of his public image, while at the same time marking a parenthesis in his musical career. These images are part of the press iconography devoted to Elvis Presley at the height of his popularity.
