José NICOLAS (1956) - Lot 107
José NICOLAS (1956) Chuteurs paras du 3 RPIMa, Central African Republic, 1997 Lambda print Dimensions: 40 x 50 cm Note: In this photograph taken in the Central African Republic, José Nicolas captures the suspended moment of a parachute jump, where the bodies are silhouetted against the sky. The contrast between the darkness of the figures and the luminosity of the horizon accentuates the spectacular dimension of the scene. The composition, framed from inside the camera, places the viewer at the threshold of the action. The image thus conveys both the mastery of the gesture and the intensity of the experience, between fall and freedom.
