José NICOLAS (1956) - Lot 203
José NICOLAS (1956) The Cardo, Jerusalem, 1998 Lambda print Signed Dimensions: 40 x 50 cm Note: In this photograph taken in Jerusalem, José Nicolas contrasts everyday life with the symbolic charge of the urban landscape. The figures in the foreground are part of a space traversed by history, dominated in the background by emblematic architecture. The composition plays on planes and contrasts between modernity and tradition, movement and immobility. The image thus reveals a discreet tension between the everyday and the sacred, characteristic of the artist's gaze.
