ARMAN (1928-2005) - Lot 202
ARMAN (1928-2005) Burnt-out violin Plexiglas jewel and gold frame 5.7 x 2.5 x 0.9 cm Gross weight: 32.37 g Unsigned Note: This jewel takes up one of Arman's emblematic motifs, that of the violin, frequently used in his works around the destruction and memory of the object. The "burnt violin" process is in line with the artist's accumulations and combustions from the 1960s onwards, in which the object is transformed by fire while retaining its symbolic charge. Transposed here into jewelry, this motif retains its sculptural and conceptual dimension, while being adapted to a precious format combining Plexiglas and gold mountings. Arman's derivative creations, particularly around musical instruments, benefit from an active market and constant collector interest.
