Paul Newman, circa 1950 - Lot 32
Paul Newman, circa 1950 Digital color print Dimensions: 27.1 x 20.2 cm Note: A youthful portrait of Paul Newman, before he became one of the major figures of American cinema in the 1960s-1970s. The frontal pose, direct gaze and studio lighting already underline the inner tension and magnetic presence that would make him so distinctive on screen. This image is in keeping with the classic aesthetic of post-war Hollywood portraiture: sober costume, tight framing, focus on the face and eyes. It anticipates the icon he was to become, combining elegance, dramatic intensity and modern masculinity.
