Aldo SOARES (1960) - Lot 91
Aldo SOARES (1960)
César, 1991
Silver print
Signed, titled, dated on back
Size including margins: 40 x 30 cm
Note: This portrait stands out for its frontal, almost physical intensity. The face, framed as closely as possible, occupies all the space, as if it were butting up against the very surface of the image. The light, precise and unspectacular, reveals every asperity of the skin and beard, transforming the face into a veritable landscape. Soares seeks neither idealization nor flattery: he constructs a dense, almost sculptural presence, where identity is read in the very matter of the body. The fixed gaze engages a face-to-face confrontation without escape, making portraiture an experience of confrontation rather than mere representation.
