Michel GINIES (1970) - Lot 181
Michel GINIES (1970)
The Pont Neuf under the Brune
Silver print
Numbered 3/25
Image size : 30 x 40 cm
Dimensions with passe partout : 40 x 50 cm
Note : Michel Giniès offers here an atmospheric vision of the Pont Neuf, shrouded in a thick mist that dissolves the contours of the city. The arches of the bridge barely emerge, as if suspended in a diffuse light, while the Seine occupies most of the image.
The silver treatment accentuates this grainy softness and floating, almost painterly sensation. The composition plays on depth and the gradual disappearance of forms, giving Paris a timeless, silent dimension.
For Giniès, the city becomes a space of contemplation, where reality is transformed by light and climate into an almost dreamlike vision.
