Michel GINIES (1952) - Lot 184
Michel GINIES (1952) Jacques Nicholson in Paris 1990 in front of the LIP restaurant Silver print Image size: 40 x 30 cm Dimensions with sound and passe partout : 50 x 40 cm Note: Here, Michel Giniès captures an emblematic figure of the cinema in a frontal portrait that is both simple and powerful. The smile, dark glasses and relaxed attitude create an instantly recognizable image, somewhere between charisma and irony. The tight framing focuses attention on the face, while the background blur isolates the subject and reinforces its presence. Black and white accentuates the contrasts, giving the portrait a timeless dimension. Accustomed to portraits of celebrities, Giniès is less concerned with staging than with capturing a moment in time. Here, he captures a presence, a style, an aura, revealing the personality behind the icon.
