Set of two photographs - Lot 199
Set of two photographs
Man in a sailor suit and his car
Silver print
Dimensions: 33.8 cm x 23.9 cm with cardboard sheet
Photographs superimposed on black cardboard sheets
Sold as is with slightly corroded and torn corners
Note: This set of two photographs features a man in a sailor suit associated with his vehicle, in a composition that is both documentary and constructed. The image evokes a certain French imaginary, between the everyday and the representation of identity. The mounting on a cardboard sheet suggests its use as a presentation or archive. The whole is of visual and documentary interest, typical of anonymous twentieth-century photography.
