José NICOLAS (1956) - Lot 372
José NICOLAS (1956)
Truffle market in Richerenches, Vaucluse, 1998
Color silver print
On back, signed, dated, titled, numbered 1/8
Note: Seen from above, José Nicolas captures the bustle of a market that has become a collective ritual. The compact crowd, open umbrellas and wooden tables create a dense, almost choreographed scene. Between glances, gestures and expectations, the image tells as much about commerce as it does about social ties, transforming this ordinary moment into a tableau vivant.
