GARNET AND DIAMOND BROOCH - Lot 2
GARNET AND DIAMOND BROOCH A crescent-shaped brooch in 750-thousandths yellow gold and silver, set with a row of round garnets in a gradient arrangement, accented by a border of rose-cut diamonds. Pin clasp with safety hook. Gross weight: 8.9 g. Dimensions: 4 × 4 cm. Dated to the second half of the 19th century, circa 1880. Note: The crescent motif was extremely popular in Victorian and late 19th-century jewelry. A symbol of renewal and protection, it was frequently rendered in gold and silver, combining deep red garnets with rose-cut diamonds, in keeping with the aesthetic characteristic of this period. Some slight signs of wear.
